SMART and Airbnb Team Up For Discounts
If you suffer from acute dromomania, aka chronic wanderlust, then the latest partnership agreement signed by Smart just might be the cure. The Philippine telco has teamed up with travel accommodation marketplace Airbnb to serve a sweet perk to Smart subscribers. Here’s how it goes.
For every minimum spend of PhP 8,000 on a single booking, whether locally or abroad, all Smart Prepaid, Smart Postpaid, and Smart Bro subscribers get a PhP 2,500 discount on their bill.
That. Is. Awesome.
We can think of so many ways to spend that extra two and a half grand on a vacation – a nice dinner, tickets to an off-off-Broadway show, a kitschy souvenir that your mother will love anyway, a couple hours on a jet-ski, or a week’s worth of Jonah’s shakes for two in Boracay. However you want to spend your tidy windfall, neither Smart nor Airbnb will judge.
The downside is that this is a one-time offer only, one booking per subscriber, via a coupon that you get when you text “SMARTAIRBNB” to 2855. But you can game that easily if you often travel in a group. Go round-robin with your friends, each Smart user booking for a different trip. Sure, PhP 2,500 won’t go that far when there are a dozen of you, but every little way to maximize your trip spend helps. Since this promo is valid for bookings through December 2016, you can conveniently plan your trips for next year. Promo bookings need to be made by March 31, 2016, so you have a lot of time.
This initiative is part of Smart’s continuing thrust to promote their connected Smart Life, tying in to such travel-related promos as Smart Surf Abroad 550, transport services like Uber, even entertainment providers like iflix and Spinnr. With Airbnb on board, Smart has broadened its portfolio of value added services and promotions, giving its subscribers more reason to be loyal.
